Project description:

The nonprofit Association Skatepark Coperto Vanja was founded in 2008 to honor the memory of Vanja Kojic, a young man from Ascona who tragically lost his life in a car accident in 2004 at the age of 18. In tribute to Vanja’s dream of having a skatepark, his mother and brother opened the Vanja Covered Skatepark in 2009.

This skatepark serves as an inviting gathering spot for children, teenagers, and young adults, designed as a communal hub where individuals can come together and socialize in a safe environment. As the only covered skatepark in Ticino, it provides a unique opportunity for skateboarders of all ages and skill levels to participate in healthy and enjoyable physical activities. The facility also hosts various events, including skate and graffiti competitions, skate lessons, children’s birthday parties, dances, and concerts in designated areas. Additionally, the redevelopment of the area surrounding the facility is expected to be transformative, attracting youth, children, and adults alike, and fostering a vibrant community atmosphere.
